Petzl ASCENSION Handled Rope Clamp/Ascender Grab

  • Designed for ascending and occasionally for hauling (progress capture)
  • A wide, ergonomic molded handle allows a comfortable yet powerful grip
  • Lower holes for connecting a SPELEGYCA lanyard and installing a FOOTPRO foot loop with a quick link
  • Toothed cam with self-cleaning slot optimizes performance under any conditions (e.g. frozen or dirty ropes)
  • An upper hole through which a carabiner attaches the device to the rope (useful for back-up belays or hauling)
  • For single ropes between 8 and 13 mm in diameter

Perhaps the most popular ascender on the market, the Petzl Ascension is a classic, versatile ascender. The new cam has a slot to get rid of water, ice or mud, and teeth designed to slide up the rope more easily and grip it positively when required. The improved ergonomic shape of the handle gives a comfortable hold, even when wearing gloves. The new design features increased strength particularly on smaller diameter ropes (4.2 kN on an 8 mm dynamic rope). For use with single kernmantel rope (UIAA dynamic or low stretch rope or static) from 8-13 mm.
